GIVE

It's not what you've got, it's what you GIVE!

These details are also available on the GiveWithoutGiving.org website, but I thought I'd take a stab at explaining the fees in my own words. Most commercial co-venturers retain 20% or more of earned revenues in a fundraising campaign. We're no different in that we retain a portion of the earned revenues, but we're only retaining 7%; hence 93% is left to the registered virtual billboard owner. Of the 7% we retain, the credit card processing fees chew up 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. This leaves around 4% to cover the remaining operational expenses that go into maintaining this program (i.e. development costs, hosting fees, human capital costs, etc.). My contribution as Founder is that I've already absorbed most of these expenses as my personal investment in the program; hence, I can afford to be more generous than other commercial co-ventures. This takes me back to my first post (Chapter 1) in that this is a true passion of mine, and I've made a personal investment to see it succeed. My goal is to help those less fortunate, and I truly believe this is the vehicle in which to do it!

So let's run some real numbers...let's say you purchase a single ad-block for $10 to support a chosen cause represented on a virtual billboard. $9.30 will be donated directly to the cause you chose to support. Of the remaining $0.70, $0.59 will be consumed by the credit card processing fee. This leaves $0.11 to to be applied to all other operational expenses. This model clearly doesn't work without volume participation.

The point being...the motivations behind this program are genuine and proven in the numbers. As stated on our web site, if our revenues exceed our fixed operational expenses, the surplus amount will be applied to our General Relief Fund. Our General Relief Fund is a growth fund that will be used to randomly assist individuals and families experiencing a financial crisis due to events outside of their control.

Please feel free to contact me directly at gunruh@givewithoutgiving.org if you have questions surrounding the economics of this program.
